Before I post any pics I would just like to disclose that the cause of the engine failing was due to the hamp oil filter I was running had come lose. I would also like to add that I am running two sandwich plates one for the oil cooler and they other for oil temp and pressure, I know that it isn't 100% ideal that I ran two sandwich plates but for this very reason I check on a regular basis for any leaks etc which I have had non of up until now.

When I was at oulton park the car locked up when they engine partially siezed causing it to spin out and clip the curb on a corner snapping the rim of my alloy but I cannot see any other damage caused. I also noticed a nasty score on they inside of my front stoptech disc I suspect was probably caused by a stone been stuck inbetween the pad and disc. All these problems add up to be a very costly repair so I plan on leaving the car off the road over winter to get it mint.

Looking good Luke, alot of work done in one day I must say. Good to see that you have mates that are wiling to come and help you out

So you did drop it out from the bottom on the subframe in the end I take it?

Get all the good parts cleaned up, then make a list of what you need to replace and rebuild the bugger!

Lol at Zak's happy little face lying under the car

To be honest mate working on the car is one big learning curve for me and a wouldn't want to make an assumption like that because I'm not sure ,what I do know is the engine does turn over so possibly partially siezed it then freed its self off when its cooled down. Thanks for all the part numbers etc for the k24 swap also it will help me out a great deal if I do decide to take that route.

Thanks Carlos, yeah your right I dropped the car as close to the ground as I could safely then we unbolted the subframe, engine mount and gearbox mount.. The next bit was scary lifting the car up high enough to slide they engine out underneath, I was absolutely crapping myself at this point  But luckily we got enough clearance to pull it out of the driverside arch and all was well

poo mate what a downer!

I will confess i used the same method as you with 2 sandwich plates and it did come lose between putting the car on the trailor after Brands and then getting it off again the following morning (I was very lucky!). Must be with it heating up & cooling down over & over it works it's way lose. :bad-words:

Hopefully you get it back on the road asap :bigthumb: , what did you think to Oulton btw?

good work luke

Hiya mate yeah the 2 sandwich plates isn't the best method in the world although it works and never in my wildest dreams did I think it would cause the oil filter to spin free. I absolutely loved Oulton park and it gave me an insight into what trackdays are all about, I was amazed with the cars handling and I spoke to some decent people too.

My minds been running off at the moment wondering what to do, Initially I wanted to K24 it but I'm having second thoughts now and considering rebuilding my bottom end with a new crank, rods and some oversized forged pistons. The engine is in pieces now and pics will be up later.

Yeah I'm really happy I've got the job done along with the help of a few good mates we were at it all Saturday and the stripping the engine Sunday... I think I'm going to take the rebuild really slow just to make the car mint for eg I want to powdercoat all wishbones trail arms and subframe etc. :-D

Bren

Thanks mate and I really appreciate the offer but your right, its too far for you to come and what do you mean by lock wiring the filter I may steal this idea too :vconf:

Good work so far pal, other than the problems you find Oulton a good track? I was there but only for snaps, a few passenger rides and to see what these track days are about. Starting to track prep mine to start tracking it next year, seems you get a better group of lads at track days than you do at RWYB at shows etc.
