There's loads of sets going cheap the now. You need to stop blowing your cash on wire brushes and sand paper.
The budget is getting stretched again this year, but these were too much of a bargain to pass on. Came with 2 good slicks and 2 trashed. The guy must have been a wild man! They've been worn past the canvass!

This made me , must have a good few hundred invested in abrasives!!

Good to see the car's getting some TLC, don't do a me though or you won't be driving it till next year

Don't worry Carlos, there's no chance of that happening. I started to clean up the NSF arch ready for paint last night, got it about half done, got bored, sacked it and had a few pints instead.

I removed the gearbox the other night so i could get the new clutch straight on when it arrived and was thinking about getting my flywheel skimmed as it was going to take a few days till the clutch arrived. My old man was giving me a lift with it (note the bailer twine. Farmers! ).






But on removal of the gearbox and clutch on my FACELIFT, i was shocked to find a PRE-FACELIFT flywheel!!
My first reaction..... then...... :bad-words:






What a mess it was in aswell!! There was no chance i was going to pay to have a heavy ass cast iron flywheel skimmed. So i want home in a rage. On the forum that night a wee gem came up. A nice facelift flywheel in mint condition!! :WOOT So snapped it up and it was delivered in record breaking time!! Thanks Chris!! :salut:

That was exactly my first thought. But talking to Chris who has seen the Swindon plant, he reckons that as mine is a 53 plate (the first of the facelift models), they never changed the engine to facelift's until the 04 plates. As the engines and chassis's are made up in different buildings. It is without a doubt a facelift chassis, but it has a pre-facelift engine. :salut:

I'm lead to believe the flywheel is the only difference in the Pre-Facelift and Facelift engines??

I was the opposite, mines a 53 pre-face Gus and it had a facelift flywheel.

Neil - It's easy taking it apart, it's putting it back together that's going to be tricky. I keep looking at 5 bolts on the scuttle and thinking "i have no idea where you guy's are from!". I'm sure they will find a home soon enough though.

My Satin went to colin from Leven who then traded it in to a garage in Edinburgh. So god knows where it is now. But there was another identical Satin, 53 facelift, which was owned by a guy in Glenrothes who worked at the dyno place.

Oh, and I am pretty sure Alan's NHB JRSC one was a 53 plate facelift as well, which funnily enough he bought from the exact same garage I did in Airdrie.

Been busy getting the car finished.

Manifold flexi was cracked, so bought a new one and had it welded in by a mates dad.






Also got a mint facelift flywheel off here.






Clutch eventually arrived. Opted for the ACT sprung 6 puck with heavy duty pressure plate.










I then started to strip the arches back and catch the rust before it gets too bad. Think everyone on the forum's jumping on this bandwagon right now. I also rolled the rear arches so i can run the Evo wheels.

as for the fly wheel..... IMHO this is also possible with some of the steering racks!

I guess that the 03 - 04 cars share some "transision parts". I also have a 04 car, so who knows ....

Gave the arches a coat of seam sealer




Then a coat of hammerite




Now looks like this.....




Cut the arch liners down to make small mud flaps to reduce the air flow to the rear parachute/bumper.






I got a refund for my BC RM coilovers as they kept breaking. :WOOT Worst purchase EVER!!

Soooooooooo, treated myself to a set of Buddyclub N+'s. :cooldude:








Wish i had bought these last year, but there isn't much info about them on the internetz.... A wee convo with Rob from Area Motorsport and all was settled. Also got my clutch got and a few more goodies from them.


Also got a replacement Mishimoto rad as my first one was leaking from a porous weld.

Give them a week and the springs will go from that nice blue, to a lovely orange crusty rusty colour. Rat look coilies if you will [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]
