If you want to see 240bhp then a DC system, Tegiwa and RBC will easily secure that.
I'm actually suprised yours didn't make the 220 mark but it could have been down to the rollers because they all differ.

DC Sports has a true 2.5" bore so in terms of flow that will help massively and the Tegiwa/Gruppe M have been proven time & again to give good gains. If you go down the RBC route then I recommend getting yourself a bigger throttle body and port matching them together because it generally has a nice improvement in the midrange.

Anything over 200bhp N/A is pretty special though, especially from a 2.0L [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]

If you plan on fitting the RBC yourself then it might be worth buying a second hand slam panel incase you make a mess of it.
You need to get it just right because otherwise it will look pants and can cause bonnet rattle issues too (if panel is not re-fitted properly)

TDI North charge £180 inc VAT for fitment and the slam panel mod, they do a pretty neat job too

If your concerned about doing it then another option might be to spend an extra 200 quid and get a Skunk 2 Series Pro intake because they give better gains (particularly torque) than the RBC and dont require any modification for fitment.

Can you show me where you have seen the skunk perform better than the rbc? Every test I've ever seen it went rrc, rbc, skunk, in that order, not doubting you, id just like to see the test

I have not got any direct comparisons were people have tested both on the same car but if you look at people who are running a Skunk 2 inlet they normally produce really great figures, especially torque. There are lots of variables such as air induction, exhaust, header etc but some lads with Skunk 2's have been pulling 180+ lbs feet of torque which is unheard of with the RBC unless your running aftermarket camshafts.

The Skunk 2 was designed to be better than the RBC otherwise i'm pretty sure they would not have bothered making it, i'm not saying its better than the RRC but it does give better gains than the RBC.

Minimal gains but small gains are what you expect on N/A Cars, the downside to the Skunk 2 Pro intakes is the price though.

Interesting!

So you'd go with a skunk2 inlet manifold over a RBC? If starting over new?

Yes mate without doubt [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]
When you take into account the additional costs for the throttle adapter plates & slam panel work there is not much difference in the price, especially if you can get a second hand Skunk inlet.

I guess the RRC would be a consideration too but apparently they require a lot of work to the slam panel which is why they are a rare sight on EP3's.

yea numbers are pretty low, but should see a massive difference after some better mods!

romain was saying the high bhp figures people are seeing is made at the peak, and with all the power focused on mid range and restricted at peak it wasnt really going to achieve very high figures

tegiwa M already ordered :)
#3483012
yea the exhaust is pants, im actually bidding on a dc exhaust atm but not sure if it will jump in price at last minute

and yes the itg is rubbish for peak gains, it already has a feed to behind the bumper (same place as the AEM cai)

i should really have done some research as ive found a few threads with people disappointed with the peak gains from this kit :( but for torque and mid range power it is pretty good (and torque is where the ep3 lacks apparently)

Is the DC exhaust the one that's had the backbox tip welded slightly? If so at a guess I think it's going to go around £150.00ish.

Was going to bid on it but I'll leave it to you mate.

Didn't know the ITG was that bad? I'm sure I've read the Injen one is the best for torque but some don't bother due to the whole 'water/hydro' argument?
#3483024
mate you dont have to back down :D there will be other exhausts :P

the AEM CAI is meant to be pretty good for gains on a budget

Im also thinking of an rbc and then a map

hoping to get it mapped to:

rbc - tegiwa m - japspeed mani - dc exhaust

so will hopefully see much better results
