Update.......

I had the steering rods lathed so i could extend the thread further down and chop a bit off them. This is needed to run -3 degrees camber. I then tapped them further down.

To fit the oil cooler the crash bar had to be modified. The horns and bracket would have rubbed a hole in the rad, so it was removed.

Then, in my drunken state, thought it would be amazing to paint the horns and crash bar hammerite orange so you could see it through the holed bumper!!

And the holed bumper..... And i offset the plate so it wouldn't interfere with cooling.

Thats what I am going to do, get a sticker no. plate, as my bumper is getting cut up also...

Gus, epic work mate :bigthumb: . Seems we have been up to similar mods of late. Very interested to see how you find the steering with the motor removed, maybe you'll have arms like popeye after a few months if you stick it out

BTW it may have been the EPS control unit instead of the motor that was causing the steering to be stiff before. Jreedy has had problems with his steering and replaced that; it sorted the problem...

Scotty - Cheers. I like it like that, looks rough and ready. :cooldude:

Alan - I'll need more than that, its an all day shot with the farting about that needs done. It'll be a 3 course meal and a crate of Strongbow!! :roflmao:

Carlos - Yea, we have. I've just fitted the exact same new track rod ends aswell. I think you've been stalking me. :P The steering is mega heavy now without the motor!! But then again, ive only drove it round my yard a couple of times at low speeds. If i'm not liking it i'll fire the motor back on.

What kind of problems was Jreedy having?

Gus, you're supposed to remove the worm drive as well dude...with it still in it will be exactly the same as if the motor was still on but just switched off.

Your actually such a D.i.y handyman.....cant believe you stripped the whole front end yourself with no fear what so ever. Got to love the time & effort put into this car by you

Andy - Any idea how i go about removing worm drive? I really cant be bothered taking the rack back out now. Might just fire the motor back in and leave it.

Jag - I thought so myself. Its also infront of the fan aswell, so will help cool the oil when stopped. Thanks man!! I love getting in about it myself. Tbh, i did wonder if i would be able to put it all back together again when i stripped the front end down.
