Thanks Jermal.
I bet that cost a bit though!

As I'm sure you know costs are always the problem. It would be great to have a marquee, tables, chairs, music system, bouncy castle (and a wrestling ring for Malakie  ) but all these things cost money.
Yeah, it wasn't exactly cheap. I think it was our biggest expense last year. We paid about £250 for it for the weekend and I think the system we actually go should have been £300.

Trying to organise a weekend like JAE when your club doesn't have membership fees per sé like CTRO and TRO is extremely difficult and I don't think people appreciate just how much needs to be organised and how much it all costs. We've spent the best part of £100 just on the pitch plot this year. Essentially a piece of grass with some spray paint on. Madness.

As I'm sure you're aware, TRO charges it's patrons a little more than CTRO for the weekend at JAE. However it must be stressed that we do so to provide extra facilities such as music and meals throughout the weekend. Obviously people want to part with as little cash as possible, however we've found that if you're honest and up front with why it costs what it does and where the money is going, most people tend to be ok with the charges. So don't let it put you off asking for a little more wonga if it means the stand and all of it's guests will benefit.

Well said jermal.

Events like this are diffcult to finance when we run on donations, its the same in scouting. Overheads first then whatevers left (which is bugger all) for the other stuff.

Impressive sounds system though! Could the PA system even be heard over that?!

No. it was truely epic. It wasn't even turned up a 1/4 of the way and it was drowning out everyone else. Especially in the Sat afternoon when we had teh chilled out DnB, deep bass wobbling everything FTW

More of the same please Jermal.

Can you put "chilled out" and "DnB" in the same sentence?

I remember your system got a lot of attention as everyone wanted to know what all the noise was

Honda.
Along with fake potted plants. :P

This year we'll all be sitting on the grass.
Malakie wrote:Is there anything you need me to help/bring this year Cat?
I'm not sure as yet really.
Didn't you bring along a little BBQ last year?

Cosmic T.C is bringing a generator and lights hopefully.
I might have a loan of a marquee sorted out, although thinking about transportation and erecting it means I am thinking maybe hiring through JAE is a better option although it's expensive.
Chairs and tables can only be hired through JAE if they're hired with a marquee, easy to bring a camping chair but not so easy to take a table.
M1ke said his brother has DJ equipment but that's yet to be confirmed.
I'll be buying a cheapo bbq that we can then use as a firepit on the last night!
Food, well somehow last year we had money to buy stuff plus lots of people brought stuff anyway.

Can anyone think of any other entertainment apart from ourselves and alcohol? (or no alcohol in the case of some)

How much is the marquee to hire cat, and how much we looking at for tickets if we factor it into the price?
If people know what were paying for then i cant see there being that many complaints if the prices are a bit higher than last year?

Not sure on what else to bring but if we got alchohol food and music we cant really go wrong

The plot for our stand will be between £70-£100.
A decent sized marquee is £135 + VAT. (cheaper than last year iirc)
Tables are £4.75 + VAT each.
Chairs £1.75 + VAT each.

If we get 25 cars then I'm thinking £15 per car to help cover stand costs. Bit of contingency to cover buying a BBQ, some food and paying for generator petrol. Plus EvoStu thinks there might be a few pennies kicking about to help out.
That £15 will be over and above the price for a JAE ticket which is £20 per person for the weekend.
