Light weight heater (track car)

Has anyone removed their heater matrix and fitted a light weight heater I'm doing mine at the moment but I'm a bit unsure if I can use the standard heater switch

You want it just to demist or as an actual heater?
Just to de mist the windscreen, I have piped it up same as the usual heater matrix.
