have just been on a nice run up the a1 for about 40 miles and back

ctr sounds great with quickshift but have noticed a couple of things;

1. Hum getting on my tits

2. at 6000 the filter makes a really loud noise then settles down but the vtec kick is gone

Now one thing i like is when you hit 6000 and the vtec kicks in. the filter sounds great but id rather have the vtec kick in.

has onyone else with a quickshift noticed this. any help would be appreciated.

ashh..

I certainly still had a kick from the VTEC at 6000, i'm sure others do or did.

I have noticed with mine that if you are in the wrong gear then there is not as much acceleration but if you go up through the gears there seems to be more response. I still get the VTEC kick when I hit 6000rpm and a massive noise! I have fitted an aluminium heat shield to mine and a cold air feed which delivers cold air straight to the end of the filter.

Did you make the heat shield yourself? where did you fit it to and where does you're cold air feed run from?

I ordered my Quikshift on Saturday and apparently Quikshift have been inundated with requests for them and as a result have sold out!!!!!
They have put some more into production this week and mine will be delivered next week sometime. But in the mean time I need to figure out the heat shield & cold air feed so any ideas would be great.

cheers matey!

Check your oil level as well, VTEC will not be as pronounced if it is low.

Check it anyway mate.

Wouldn't be the first time a garage charged for something they didn't put in.

My oil got low once and everytime I came out of a corner the VTEC would not cut in  I topped it up and now it's fine :)

Whys that then??? Does it restrict it when the oil gets low??

The vtec works by using a sensor, if there is no oil (ie going round a corner and the oil goes to the other side of the sump) the vtec will not work, this will only happen if your oil is exceptionally low though

I also read on a previous thread that the Vtec is proportional to the level of oil but I don't know how true that is :?:

Thinking about now, mine does seem to go better after I've topped the oil up.

My cold air feed comes from behind the front grill, where the original one was. I removed the original rubber hose and then secured the new one there. I'll take another photo tonight and stick it up on webshots.
