I imagine a good amount of water would be able to cause hydrolock in this situation with the entering water having the inertia of gravity (coming in down from the intake scoop) and the suction of the filter itself... :vconf:you'd be seriously unlucky/silly if that happened. The chances of getting hydro lock with a GM are EXTREMELY samll bully :thumbup: You used to small things I hear
I do remember a situation where a lorry went through a large amount of standing water and a huge sheet of water went over my bonnet and up my windscreen. If I'd had a scuttle panel at the top of the bonnet which was sucking because the motor is turning then i'm sure there would have been water sucked in at that moment.
OK - it was a freak occurance but it happened and you only need it to happen once to fark your engine!
hamilton - I wasn't talking about immersion up to the level of the OEM airbox which you seem to imply with your post? I meant more if a sheet of water would be splashed up over the bonnet. yes I agree if one drove into a puddle deep enough to immerse the OE airbox then you're a bit stupid
