so since last year the hand brake did get worse put 2 new calipers on rear 2 new cables rear discs n pads and the right hand side still got very little bite when applied so suspecting a broken caliper from the refurb company.

is there any way you can make them better like a diff set of calipers or is it just a fluke to get it passed mot with handbrake working

When you fitted the new ones, did you unwind the cable from the back of the handbrake adjuster ? you need t slacken that off then you need to pump the brake to let the caliper wind out and adjust the handbrake mechanism then just do the 12.mmnut up on the handbrake adjustment and that should sort it out … If you don't slacken that off first and not pump the brake it wont adjust the gap for handbrake properly .
