Put the battery on charge yesterday, and re-routed the fuel pipe so the filter sits horizontal, so the fuel doesn't drain back, making it easier to start.

Today, my Dad is coming over to help wire a remote fan switch and hopefully we will get the engine all timed up.

And if we have time we will pre fit the front bib and rear spoiler. :)

Well managed to get the remote fan switch wired up and working. :)

Blank from dash.

Image

Cut out centre and switch fitted.

Image

Mounted in dash.

Image

Cables piggy backed off fan temp switch.

Image

Gave the battery tray a couple of coats of stone chip to protect it.

Image

Also re sprayed the speaker covers satin black, as didn't like them in gloss. Also gave the battery clamps a blow over.

Image

That's a few more jobs off the list.

This thread makes me miss my old B plate MK3 Xr3i... which coincidentally enough i actually bought from Darlo! one of the old second hand dealers on whessoe road way back in 98  don't even think that particular dealers is even there anymore tbh.

I've owned 3 Mk3 Xr3i's in the past. Always wanted an RS1600I but it never happened, and they go for crazy money nowadays!!! for the one's that are worth touching.

Nice job on this mate :bigthumb:

Cheers mate, would love a RS1600i too......but very pricey now, even XR3's are getting really pricey. That's why I got a 5 door. I had a X reg XR3 back in 98 and it only cost £75 lol......but was well past saving. :)

I know, but it's not really a favour......I brought the car off him and included in the price was him painting the car. Luckily though I've only paid half as I said I wouldn't pay for painting till its done. And he keeps moaning that he needs the money.

Well, cracking on with it at the moment. Just done a 260 mile round trip for a bonnet. Needs a little work but not rotten like the other one. :)
