Thanks. Someone previously has panted them satin silver, i clean them often but can't get them back up. I'm in the middle of trying to get a new exhaust anyway for a bit more noise :)

Day to day its an amazing all round motor. Comfortable and very quick, 338hp standard and 5.1s to 62mph.. Quiet (although D's Developments exhaust will change that)

Things to look for - a great service history, ensure the running in service is done before 1300 miles, genuine BMW or specialist servicing. Ensure the subframe reinforcement or repairs have been done or at least checked also. Inspection 2 servicing can be expensive, but overall its an amazing motor. Love it. Keep tempting myself away and back to a Honda but nothing would compare in honesty.

All e46 m3's fitted with smg use smg2, e36 got smg1 which was crap.

I didnt gel with the smg on my last m3, it annoyed me with its kangarooing and clunky changes when trying to drive normally.
The one i have now is manual and feels all the better for it.

Car looks great! I agree with a few of the others regarding the drop as I also believe it's a bit too low. :salut:

Ahh never realised the e36 was available with an smg gearbox. thought there where 2 in the e46 as early cars have the smg badge near the gear leaver.

im looking into an e46's at the min and the reviews are mixed on the smg just thought can it really be that bad as the csl has it and that's just about the best m3 there is. for some reason I fancy it over the manual

This is absolutely stunning, everything works so well. I like it so much Ive made pretty much the same comment on two forums now lol

SMGs always seemed fine to me as long as you always have the sport button pressed and the settings turned up to max, stops all the jerky changing and kangarooing especially when cold...but then I dont use one every day Ive just used a mates a lot, ive got dibs on it to buy it too but not sure if i could handle not having a clutch!

Not updated for a while with recent pictures.

Had it on a display stand at the Scottish Car Show in July. Some people took pics of the car, some difference a decent camera makes to the cars image.

Took some pictures of it outside the house beside my 172 track car. Excuse the dodgy parking, i had the garage open to move 5m lengths of wood to the back garden to do the decking.

Picked the car up yesterday after receiving its Inspection 1 level service. All ok but car was needing some brake pads all round. Had them supply and fit EBC Red Stuff pads due to the recommendation of the senior mechanic at the garage (also an E46 M3 owner)

The extra bit they done was fit a cat back Milltek Stainless Exhaust system. I bought the system pre-owned with failed welds on the back box. The garage repaired the welds and fitted the system for me. The tailpipes look loads better, and the car sounds much much better.
