Have to admit i generally stick to supermarket 95. Sometimes stick in some BP 97 or shell 95 and then occaisonally Optimax depending on the price. It was 83.9 last time i checked

Normally 97 RON and then a tank of Optimax once a month.

I get fewer MPG from Optimax and have noticed no performance increase over 97 which is why I don't use it all the time.

I only ever use Optimax, although i have to disagree with mummock i used to run a VR6 before my CTR and i found that if you used optimax regularly then indeed my fuel economy actually increased by a mpg or two !!

Although i must admit i have never actually run the CTR on anything other than optimax so i could not say for use on the Honda's !!

It's weird - I've used Optimax on several occasions now for similar type journeys (similar distance and amount of VTEC action) and it consistently returns at least 30-40 miles less on a tank than 97 RON stuff...

Thing is, as I've only ever used Optimax, I couldn't say how mch better it might be. Maybe we've been scammed by the marketing...

Put my first tank full of Optimax in a few days ago. Previous consumption about 28mpg, last tankful was 30mpg, and I had thrashed the nads off the car, so I was pretty impressed.

Even at 5p more a litre, it actually works out cheaper per mile!

So will stick with Optimax until I find out it was just a marketing ploy.
