the black part blocks off most of the heat you want to vent out from the engine bay.
a heater gun should help to detach the black portion easily.

How do you take this vent part on the fenders out?

would be easiest to remove the fenders altogether.

Just found this from a Honda press release from 2015 regarding the "new" type r -

"The airflow is channelled through the engine bay to outlet vents above the wheels on the front quarter panels and vents at the trailing edges of the widened front wheel arches to provide cooling and ventilation for the highoutput engine.
The new Civic Type R’s front and rear wheel arches are widened to accommodate an increase in front and rear track. The integrated arch extensions are in aluminium, providing a 42% weight saving over a conventional steel panel. The vents in the trailing edge of the front wheel arch extension also improve heat dissipation from the brakes."

Judging by the picture of the back of the wing vents and inspecting my car thoroughly this sounds like BS. Seems like the ability to vent the engine bay and even the wheel arch is there, its just up to owners to modify they're cars "vents" to allow this to happen. I wonder how extensively the FK2 will be modded in years to come.
Just thought I'd upload a pic of my fresh CS6's!

How hot is the bay when the car is moving though?

When you slow and park things are going to get hot quick, but when you're on the move and there's ambient air being rammed into the front of the car at 70mph+ what are the bay temps actually like?

I think I'm going to have to get some of those ebay probe on a wire thermometers and find out, they do be very hot when you pop the bonnet even after a standard drive though.

A few wks back I checked my oil during an afternoon Tbreak (3:30) & the engine was still to hot to hold the hand on for a long period, especially the turbo.
I could understand if it had been an hr but I parked the car at 6:50am, 8hrs later & still red hot, it is sat in the sun during the afternoon but I would of expected it to have cooled down more than it had

Has anyone noticed that Continental has redesigned the sidewalks on the CS6's now compare to the ones fitted at Swindon?

The distance between the rim and protector ridge has been reduced. The sidewall on the factory fitted CS6's is quite angular whereas the newer generation is more rounded.

Not sure what if any difference the changes have made but they must be for a reason?

I think they changed design right after 1st batches went out, Honda had a stock pile of the originals for replacements.
They were unavailable to the public for some time, I'm not sure if that's why they changed, some deal with Honda maybe

I have adopted this solution, total removal the plastsic flap to increase the heat airflow from engine bay to the vents

Interesting point made in the description 'From our first batch of 10 bonnets, users in Turkey have reported a 8 degree celcius drop in engine bay temperature'
Well, that's a very good venting bonnet then, not.

It get's soaking hot under the bonnet, those 8 degrees ain't going matter a thing.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself here ...

A good friend with an FK2 has an Eventuri intake fitted and we've been doing some comparisons.

2 of us with standard FK2's apart from a Pipecross panel filters only get 1.3 barboost in 2nd and 3rd gear and 1.4 bar max 4th to 6th. Neither of us can get the car to boost at 1.5 bar.

The Eventuri fitted FK2 hits 1.6 bar really quickly in all gears and this testing was done in 25 degree ambient temperatures after being driven hard for an hour or so (so engine bay and engine really hot).
The forced induction via the scoop seems to make a huge difference. The exhaust note as full chat also sounds very different with the additional boost.

The other 2 FK2 owners are good friends. The Eventuri fitted car isn't mapped or modded in any way. The Eventuri seems to have really opened up its breathing.

Apart from extremely hot days, my FK2 and my other friends standard one boosts to 1.3/1.4 bar all the time????

On that video from 1.07 onwards the car starts boosting to 1.3 bar.

Just had a look at this myself, as never really watch the boost, mines boosting to 1.4 in 3rd and 4th gear, standard car - well Pipercross panel filter but it won't make any difference.

Maybe, the Pipercross is helping.

If the Eventuri is letting it boost to 1.6, maybe the boost level is all about the restriction of the intake? No idea tbh.
Mine and a friends boosts yo 1.4 all day every day, mates with Eventuri boosts to 1.6 all day every day.
