i removed the rocker cover. this car is my test mule for parts, and its always on the dyno. so whatever that isn't necessary was removed.

the rocker cover was sort of in the way, as i was trying to make another deflector from the wiper cowling area to allow hot air to escape.

will update with more pics when its ready.

yes they can, but thats a lot more work.

you will need to cut bigger slots through the holes on the aluminium fender. not quite as straightforward.

that would be my next step if the fender side vents, and wiper cowling does not remove enough heat from the engine bay at the track.

i am trying to keep from going to a vented bonnet, to retain the stock look.

a larger sized aluminium radiator is also on the cards, to help dissipate more heat faster.

after looking at everyone's attempts to vent i decided today to attack them
On first inspection the vents do pass thought to the engine bay much to opposite discussion on here please see photos of the vent outside removed and the inner plastic wing in the engine bay
but also yes the bonnet folding arm does cover alot of the vent so the trick is to extend the vent hole and drill out a few of the wing fin (see photo ) all in all its a pity neat job the plastic is soft and will cut easy with a sharp stanely knife (mind your fingers everyone and always cut away from you )
so bascially i extended the slots and complete cut out the ducted air vents on the wing fin and drilled 7mm hole in a 3 dot formation on the blanked off ones (see photos)

only time will time if this makes a difference but it cant hurt any as that corner of the bonnet is always warmer after along run

cheers stu..

Mr Sparks ... You're inspiring me!

When you next go for a spirited drive, do let us know how hot the vents feel as if will give a good indication of how effective your mod is. Be interesting to know if you can feel hot out convecting out of the vents when the car is parked up afterwards. :Woot:

already noticed that that side of the bonnet is now hotter like its ducting the hot air out the engine bay dont notices so much at stand still due to heat rises so it wont vent there but being as the fins are shaped to act as a venturi effect it will suck hot air out nicely driving down the road

temp wise i have noticed a slight drop hot weather recently playing with values i guessing im going to noticed more in mid sept when the roads are dry but the temps dropped at the moment normal driving i hit 86-90 where as before after a long run id be hitting 105-100 with the odd Type R blast involved

like i say it cant hurt

I have adopted this solution, total removal the plastsic flap to increase the heat airflow from engine bay to the vents
