I looked at a Audi rs3 before I bought my type r fk2, first thing I noticed when I chucked it into a corner it under steered which is a known issue with the rs3. Second after adding a few extras to the car the price was at 47 grand way more than it should be, for that much money you could buy a used Porsche 911 turbo. After taking a type r on a test drive over the same roads the type r was head and shoulders better and only 32 grand.

I know on the MK1 RS3 it was an optional extra to have wider tyres fitted on the front to try and eliminate the understeer issue. Not sure it's the same on the later ones.
V.A.G cars have always been naturally understeer prone.

I know on the Mk1 I've changed the tyres to MPSS's & fitted the rear anti roll bar & I've not experienced any understeer on the road since & I do drive hard, that's also without the wider 255 fronts. I think maybe on the track when pushing on you could force it to a bit of understeer but you can in most cars if you take bends to fast..

They weren't new. Around 4-5mm of tread. Overheated massively to the point where he couldn't drive it hard and couldn't go faster than myself in an EP3 on road tyres. It was remapped so running more than standard power. It's recently just blown up after a turbo gasket (running a hybrid) got sucked into the inlet and caused a lot of damage.

I don't think any road tyres survive more than a few laps of hard track use. I used to cook Bridgestone Potenza's after 10 mins of track work.
Not sure on the hybrid turbo. It was one from Owen developments.

As I said in a previous post I looked at Audi rs3 even priced it up 46 grand way to much, I could have had a focus RS with the ford privilege scheme through work but after hearing about engine issues build issues plus the fact fords are so easy to steal. Where I work 9 st's have been stolen of the works car park plus all the posts on Facebook about fords stolen. Not heard of any FK2's been stolen of people's drives ?

Interestingly then, given their reputation, my SC6s lapped Silverstone Intl around thirty times and are only now ending their lifespan after 6000 miles.

What I meant was the tyres didn't wear out in that time, but overheated and lacked grip. Wear rate the Bridgestone were impressive.

its finding a FK2 to steal first there as rare as rocking horse sh-t i know of only 1 more in my town (admittedly i live in a small town ) but the amount of RS are ten a penny plus the fact the aftermarket rip the parts off a RS and fit it too your 1,8 focus has always been strong for thieves with ford IE, XR3i, RS2000, RS cosworth ,mexico how many 1.3 escorts have you seen over the years with rs wheels or the 4 pot XR3i wheels

I've heard of one Fk being stolen but that was a violent break in on some poor old chap who'd just took ownership & they decided not just to rob him but to take the car as well, was later found down the rd unmarked
