Lexus IS200/220 diesel (previous shape)

My dad wants to treat my mum to a much nicer second-hand car for their wedding anniversary (it's a surprise and she has a naff and unreliable 1.4 Corsa D) and we've managed to use clandestine interrogation techniques to discover that she has a thing for these Lexuses.
Basically I'm asking if there's anything I should look out for when I go viewing with my dad, common problems, areas that are prone to rust, stuff like that. His budget is around £12k but he may stretch it a little if we find a nice one.

This one is an amazing price and it's fully loaded. I reckon it's because cheap because it's a private seller but he's a bit funny about it being an Irish plate because he's heard stories about cars being given Irish plates in order to hide its history.
