Hi All,

I'm sure this has probably been asked loads of times but the search function isn't that useful with tyre sizes.

I'm running standard OEM alloys at the moment with 205/45/R17

Was looking at getting some Eagle F1's and noticed that in size 215/45/R17 they're £30 cheaper per tyre!

Just wanted to clarify a few things before I buy the tyres:

Do they Definitely fit OEM 17" alloys?
As the dimensions are different will this affect the speedo much?
Any major pro's or cons of running 215/45 ?

Thanks All

Yes loads of people fit that's size no problem but I personally don't think it looks right.speedo will under read marginally say 1-2 mph at 60 mph at a rough guess, there is an on line converter somewhere.but the ep3 speedo over reads slightly anyway.

Agree with this. Plus I've also found Goodyear tyres to have a fairly soft tyre wall compared to Bridgestone's which have one of the stiffest sidewalls out of the major tyre brands.

In that case is it worth going for a Bridgestone in 215/45? As I do plan on doing some track work in the summer.

I run 215/45. When new the speedo actually reads correctly! And I would say that the side wall roll's less than the 205's.

Don't worry about the speedo being out slightly as its such a tiny amount.

The 215's fit fine on OEM's and that little extra 10mm cross section will give you a little extra grip. I ran the Bridgestone Potenza's in that size and found the sidewalls to be just about stiff enough not to have a major affect on the handling.

True.
But- 45 is 45% not mm or whatever, and it's 45% of the tread-width so it will be ever so slightly taller side-wall (96.75mm vs 92.25mm)

ahh right couldnt understand what everyone meant, my current rear tyres are 255/45 and the sidewalls seemed higher then they were on my ep3 now i know why lol
