Well, just as a test in case the Insurance would be a problem on a Mugen I went to Confused.com

I'm pleased that it seems quite reasonable, brand new Mugen at a valuation of £24,500 = £225 a year protected with AXA.

Not sure how this compares to what people on here are paying? Maybe I could get it cheaper by opting to pay a higher excess than £250?

40?

I wish I was!!

I am far, far older than that!!

It made me chuckle that the average age of a Civic driver is 55 - that's pretty young from where I'm sitting ... I guess it doesn't appeal much to the under 40's? There are some really serious cars out there for the youngsters.

Like I said .... the average age of a Civic owner is 55!

I own a much faster car anyway in my garage - power and speed has no age limit!

And what's wrong with being older and having a CTR ???

Very true!

I'm thinking the average age of a Civic owner is not the average of a Civic Type R owner though.

There is nothing wrong with being older and owning a CTR, maybe the average Civic driver is 55, but what about the average CTR driver? Fair enough it's the same car, but all the family I have around me would pick a standard Civic over the Type R for insurance and fuel economy

That's like saying alcohol is wasted on alcoholics? The clue is in the name!

So, is your faster car the result of your mid-life crisis?
