... can a TowBar be fitted to a Mugen?
I would imagine, yes - as one can be fitted to a Type R. Just more of the skirt will have to be cut away?
Don't shoot me down .... the missus wants it to tow our Camping Trailer see? If it won't I can't have it!

Sorry, I am asking a serious question - surely people want to tow jet-skis and suchlike?
The dealer said that he has fitted loads of TypeR's with witter towbars for many customers - I was just wondering whether the Mugen has anything different underneath which would stop a towbar working like on a TypeR.
I'm sorry if I have offended

In short NO. It has a zero towing weight.

Looks like you're going to have to have another think about your new car I'm afraid.

*&^&%$£"!
That's shot my dreams down in tatters :bigcry:
I was like a little boy at Xmas waiting for a trainset!
I went in for a Type S diesel - that's what I may end up with, so not too bad - but now I've seen that white beauty!
Is it because of the lack of torque I wonder? Which is a bit sad if someone only wants to tow a small trailer? I can understand a caravan may not be pulled, but a camping trailer?
Now I have a dealer saying he can fit to a Type R and has done plenty of times and someone here saying it's the same except for some plastic bodykit - really confused now.

Dealers don't always know what they're talking about, no style of Civic Type R can have a towbar, as Evostu said they have a zero towing weight.
A dealer asked me how the traction control was in my EP3 (old style Type R) ermm ... they don't come with traction control.

I know that Dealers aren't the be all and end all - but he must know that he has fitted Type R's with towbars before?
There are owners with Type R's out there sporting towbars, taking their garden stuff to the tip and - maybe - towing big caravans. That's outrageous if true!

The manuals say no tow.
Your insurance company would not be happy with you towing a shed with your type r.
What do you want to tow ?

i have no trouble towing with mine, perhaps it's because my caravana is not too heavy.

The CTR has a zero towing limit - The suspension has been known to collapse when fitted with a tow bar because it cannot take the weight being loaded onto it.
And as said your insurance might be void.
Ignore mat he's a pikey.

NO!! The CTR has a zero towing limit - The suspension has been known to collapse when fitted with a tow bar because it cannot take the weight being loaded onto it. If you fit one your warranty is null and void on your suspension and considering thats one of the CTR's weak points in terms of warranty claims I wouldn't risk it.

And the warrenty would be voided as well as it has zero towing weight
CTR towing = Ultimate fail :ymca:

I know you are having a chuckle at my expense ... but, if the Honda Main Dealer fitted it (he said he gets a local witter fitter in) and it's on the invoice, then it is sold as new with a towbar.
That would make the warranty perfectly OK - after all, I don't know that there is no towing limit in the book until I pick my car up.
I'm shocked that the suspension has been known to collapse with towing? That's shocking - must be the noseweight that does that ... not the towbar as the towbar fits to the body.

Isn't the FN2 rear suspension a big metal girder..?? I always thought it was the far superior independent rear suspension setup of the faster and lighter EP3 that made it unsuitable for pikey activities.

My dealer wanted me to have my cam belt changed when i went in to enquire for some spares oil, filters, sparks etc... Apparently a cambelt change is included when they service it....
