im not sure if the mu09gen is a 20? but im led to believe it is as they have both at the institute at the moment.
Trust me MU09GEN is a Mugen 20. Its the very first of the full production units that were built in Japan and shipped over.

The Mugen cars don't live at the institute, they live at the Mugen Euro HQ.
At the institute, the guys in the press workshop told me that mu03gen is prototype P1 (as we all know) and mu09gen is prototype P2, i.e. it is not one of the 20.

Yeah, it's numbered as 00.

exactly, and they clearly said that the 20 will be numbered 1-21 (excluding 13 for obvious reasons)

Surley if it makes no differnce in the country you are selling the car, it makes no difference.

I'm in no way saying your wrong, i'm sure your right.

In my opinion why miss out 13, makes no difference to me :???:

Sorry, the omission of #13 was down to me.

In a previous life I have built hundreds of race cars over the years and we never used to build one with chassis plate 13 (even those we were selling to Japan). It's just a motorsport foible that doesn't mean much outside of the UK and US, and different numbers are regarded as unlucky in different countries, but it is something I had always done, so we went with it (Triskaidekaphobia = fear of the number 13 by the way).
The car is built in the UK (base car at Swindon, Mugen conversion at Northampton), and only sold in the UK, so UK traditions won the day. I understand Mugen 200 will have a number 13 though.

A (semi) interesting story if you're interested; we were once building a run of Formula Nippon cars and, due to production issues, it turned out purely by chance that the 13th chassis was the one we sent for impact testing (normal practice would suggest that you would try to pass the crash test with one of your first-built before going into full production), and it got totally trashed, and so we had to scrap the chassis and retrospectively apply a fix to the previous 12 that were already made. We usually reckoned on passing crash tests with ease, and this was a pure coincidence I know, but I always remember it.

Incidentally, the car in the pictures is #00, which is Honda/Mugen-speak for a pre-production car, therefore this one is not for sale. The cars for sale will be numbered 01-21 i.e. no #13.
