Anyone know where you can get a suitable sized angled feeler gauge from?

The only angled gauge i can find is a draper one but its blades are too large. Ive trying using a straight feeler gauge but found it too tricky to get to intake valves.

My CTR has been driving crap since the valve adjustment was 'supposedly' done at the last service.

Is it possible to do such a bad job that acceleration suffers and the car wont rev to anywhere near redline :-x

X a million.

Why do people stump up dealer prices when their car is out of warranty is beyond me. A specialist is cheaper and they know what they are doing.

At the stealers you pay extra for a 16 year old apprentice to thread your bolts.

Ah well.

is this the same as adjusting the tappets then? like changing the geometry on the suspension is called a 'FRSU' to make it sound harder than it actually is? lol

Even out of warranty, a full manufacturers service history should benefit you, should major problems arise. My ABS pump died 13 months out of warranty, on 42k miles. VW replaced it and all I was charged was 50% labour. The service manager told me this was due to the full VW service history, they could have easily fobbed me off otherwise.

Had mine checked/adjusted yesterday. Engine is approaching 75k and noticeably quieter and smoother than before. Sounds like new! :-D

Wondering whether to have mine checked as comin upto 90k and it sounds a bit squeely when cold, especially if it's raining. Not sure if I should wait anorther 10k

Its meant to be done at the 76k service iirc. Regardless of engine mileage if its sounds rough or tappet-y then i'd recommend getting it checked. My car feels so much smoother to drive and on start up its virtually silent. V-tec crossover feels alot stronger too. If your car hasn't been checked before then I would get it done now.

Yes, they are one and the same thing - just different terminology.

Nice one, I remember reading on here that it's supposed to be done every 25k

going by the service manual it should be checked every 25k... and adjusted only if necessary (why it would be adjusted if not is beyond me)

huge difference between a car 13 months passed 3 year warranty and 3 or more years

Also from my personal experience my servicing has been 50% or more less than Honda and these savings over 4 years would have paid for any major issues with cash to spare

Had a read through this and clicked the links but still not 100% on the correct sequence?!

Do I set both the inlet and exhaust clearances on cylinder 1 then move cylinder 4 to tdc and do the same there then cylinder 3 then 2?

Or do I do cylinder 1 inlet, cylinder 4 exhaust etc as it says in mr bilkos guide.?
