I now supply HID kits, they are the new 55w digital kits that are smaller, brighter and more reliable. ALL MODELS

I also supply the bulb adapters if you do no want to chop up your OEM ones.

PM me, KITS IN STOCK

Face lift CTR HID H1 Conversion.

Due to the H1 lamps in the facelift model but H4 retaining spring on the back of the projectors, fitting is not a straight forward plug and play. So please read on.

What is required?

1. A dremmel type tool.
I bought one from ebay for £20

2. Hotmelt glue gun.
Again around £20.

3 Basic hand tools – Small flat head screwdriver and pliers.

4. step removed

5. Stick Velcro pads.

6. Spare set of H1 –H4 plastic adapters from Honda as there is no going back. £20

STEP 1 - Lamp Removal.
Take out old lamp and adapters keeping the old lamps safe in the car with the new adapters for back ups. Do not touch the glass.

STEP 2 - Adapter Mod.
Using a very small screwdriver GENTLY prise the resin and lugs away on the pins on the back of the adapter and pull out.

This is a little tricky but they do come.

Image

STEP 3 - The Tricky Bit.
Using the Dremmel type tool use the thin cutting blade and file out the remaining plastic in the adapter. Mind those fingers!!

Image

Image

STEP 4 - The Vital Bit.
Cut off the rubber grommet and feed in the HID lamp in place.
At this point I will point out the orientation of the lamp is VITAL. Please note is slightly turned to the left.

***Without the correct orientation you will find it difficult to fit into the projector later.***

Image

***** the position of the lamp is INCORRECT in this picture and should be the same angle but turned to THE LEFT*****

STEP 4 - Glue Time.

Hotmelt glue in place without gluing up the lamp. Do this but putting a blob of glue under the lip of the lamp and pressing back down FLAT.

Also glue the rear to stop any other movement.

Image

STEP 5 - The Easy Bit.
Mount the ballast in the engine bay. The only place I could see to put them was near the front shockers.

I secured mine with self adhesive Velcro. WHY? Because I wasn’t sure about drilling through there. I will consult my best bud when I see him next, he’s a mechanic.

This will also allow quick removal if you are like me and clean your engine bay down as the ballasts in this lower are not 100% water proof. Ian does sell a better kit but at a price.

STEP 6 - Fitting Lamps
With the thin brown tube on the lamp facing up GENTLY fit and retain the clip. The one behind the washer bottle is a right slag to do but not impossible.

STEP 7 – Wiring Loom.
Plug in all the wiring. This is as simple as it sounds.

When you look at the plug facing you, with the centre pin at the top, the +ve (Red) is on the LEFT. The -ve (Black) is on your right.

Plug in the connectors and wrap a little tape around the block.

The centre pin that is left is empty as that is the pin for the main beam for the older EP3's.

Make sure you get the polarity correct. The red wire on the Honda loom is +ve.

STEP 8 – The Best Bit.
Turn on your new lights and show off to all your mates.

Image

****The colour of the HID lamp here is no way near to what it is in the flesh. This is way bluer*****

Just a few points to help the installation.

1. You can cut the supplied rubber grommet off, don't drill the 25mm hole as it states in the booklet. That is for cars with a solid plastic cover.

2. The ballast supply is easy. Red to Red, Black to Black for the H1 kits. The H4 kits you cannot get wrong as they only plug in 1 way.

3. The bulb adapters (if used) are not supposed to be a tight fit around the bulb, the simply press the HID bulb into the headlight itself. The spring clip does the rest.

Cool how to lee, but there is no need to mount the bulb in the white stock adaptors just bend the wire clips they will hold it fine.

I have had mine on for over a year now with no problems.

I even bought some new adaptors and didn't use them

Got 5k as these give the most lumens(usable light) Have got some 8k but these were just too purple so i got 5k instead. I think the stock halogens were actually brighter!

Certainly gots some looks off of people though :D

do the 5k's give off a blue effect at angles? (any pics pal?)

Im finding the 6k too blue...
I want a more OEM look 8)

They do look more like oem, and at certain angles they appear blue which is to do with the actuall lense refracting the light. I think 4300k is factory colour temperature.

But i am really happy with them. :)

Will try and get some pics up, never done it before

As the winter is drawing ever nearer, I was seriously thinking about sorting the headlights out, this HID conversion looks like a fine option  . Has anyone fitted these to the 02 model? Do you need to do the same mods for this to work ??

You can gets H4 kits but as the lenses are not projector lights I think there maybe some issues but I'm not 100% certain.

The kit as posted above will be a lot more stright forward to fit though :)

I will email the chap I bought these from and post his reply.

BARGIN for the pre face lift owners.
Hi Lee

Sorry if the first reply did not get through. I do a H4 bixenon kit that is
perfect for the earlier civics. For you guys I will do it for 235 plus pp
compared to 279.99. Its even better than the X5 bixenon which sells for
349.99. waterproof ballast and great long beam, unlike all other bixenons
in H4.

Regards
Ian

Subject: H4 question

Hi,

I purchased a HID kit from you several weeks ago and am very pleased
with the results.

I have generated a little interest on the CTR forum and have been asked
if the kits will work on the earlier Civic type R's with the H4 lamps.
These do not have projector lamps, just the normal type.

Can you offer some advice please.

Kind Regards

Lee Hayes
