so i had to fix my ABS as apparently it costs £200 to fix :shocked!:
First thing to do if your ABS light comes on is diagnose the fault, before you get it plugged in, diagnostic machine this will cost you at a garage so leave it til last! its worth while getting hold of a voltmeter with neg/pos pins, jack your car up so you can spin your wheel freely, unplug the abs sensor plug and stick it with the prongs. set voltmeter to 2k and in my case i was seeing 1,505 to 1,545 which means to my basic brain the sensor is working, spin the wheel and you should see the reading move around 1,450 and 1,599 this is only rough figures but shows the sensor is working.
what you are looking for on your volt meter is a reading of 1 or 0 and not read when you move the wheel. this shows the sensor is dead.

ok so seeing that second hand sensors are around £60-£70 and new ones over £100 EACH..... it so happens Rover 45 front abs sensors will work, probably costing £20-£30.
the only differance is nsf rover sensor fits osf civic likewise osf rover sensor fits nsf civic, also the metal brackets which secure the abs wire can still be bolted up but a cable tie is needed to secure plug out of the way.

ive checked the size of the sensors and they are spot on...front only.

tip for getting abs sensors out, a bit of lube, pipe grips or monkey wrench, unbolt 10mm from sensor, monkey grips around plastic body and twist out....5 minutes if that

get some sand paper and give the teeth on the driveshaft a good clean, takes another 5 minutes, also worth cleaning the inside ring where the sensor fits in and give the sensor a sand paper down to make fitting it in easier, dont tap it back in, take a bit off the plastic body with sand paper and push in by hand until you cant anymore, pipe grips to squeeze it in til it buts up or even screw it home with 10mm bolt.

the abs plugs are the same, the abs sansors are seimens on both honda and rover

as soon as i did this fix.....my ABS light on the dash turned itself off so no need to plug in to diagnostics at all.

whats this cost then, £20 to £40 for a rover 45 front sensor and half hour of your time.

hope this helps someone

Thanks for the factoid, well worth remembering!

I guess you can remove the metal bracket from the dud one, transfer them over and all would be like stock?
