Question: Pressed/Stamped Numberplates - Legal?

Hi Guys,

Sorry if this has been posted again - I checked and didn't seem to find anything conclusive.

Are pressed/stamped metal numberplates legal? There's been a lot of spiel about pre 198_ reg but the majority of us own cars later than that.

Does anyone have an opinion on the legality of these and their experience with police/cameras, if any??

Thanks in advance :)

Andy

Ah ok thanks for letting me know. That would mean all those people selling these plates are lying about them being 100% legal and are just making a quick buck right?

No because somewhere along the lines they will be selling them as 100% legal " show plates" i also don't think it's an offence to supply them, some old cars are entirely allowed black and white pressed plates, it's displaying them on the road that's illegal.

Oh I see thanks J@mes :) I don't know if I should put a link up here for you to double check for me... sod it:

This one mentions road legal, but from what I have established from you guys helping me, that's not the case (for cars after dinosaur time). So this guy is advertising it wrong?

I could understand the appeal of the show plates though, may consider that :)
