I have a pair of decent 10 inch subs from my old car and want to use them in my EP3. I already have 6x9's on the parcel shelf and don't really want a box in the boot. Any ideas?

won't sound right at all with the sound stage being in the back. IMO lose the 6x9s or at least buy some second hand components for the front to bring the sound stage forward a bit

Agree with Nub here. Sound needs to be in the front next to you. Not behind you. It's a false economy putting 6x9 speakers.

Let's be honest here. How many SQL cars do you see with 6x9? Not many!

My local fitter who has a demo van said (and I quote) - "we stock 6x9s for the idiots out there who know nothing about audio and don't want to listen. They are my best selling items, but it's catered for the young kids who want a loud volume with no quality"

That being said, best place for the sub is the boot!

Point taken. :???:

So, I have replaced front door speakers and tweeters- also replaced speakers in the rear passenger section.

What would you suggest is an ideal setup? I can start from scratch.

Any decent 6.5" component setup would do. This is my install on my Civic Type R. I have JL Audio C5 series, a fantastic component speaker.

The Alpine is a good set up for the money - but the Focal range have a better natural sound in my opinion. its well worth the money. JL Audio C3 is a budget entry level, but at over £200.

This focal setup has silk dome tweeters opposed to metal. in reality this means that they are less tinny . I found metal dome tweeters too harsh.

I also found that MDF rings work better than the plastic adapter. You will get less bass vibration. These are available on eBay for under £5:

Car Audio Security are very good with their pricing and stock. I also recommend them for hardware and sound deadening. Also I recommend the Skinz range of sound proofing, cheaper than dynamat but just as good - if not better.
