First one is 30 quid cheaper here mate:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... tAodZUMA6A

As is the second one too:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... 500bt.html

And 50 quid off the third:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... 530bt.html

Caraudiodirect I have used in the past and had no bother with them at all including on returns of a faulty item I had.

Not sure on which I would consider the best though, just historically have always been pleased with Alpine (on about my fourth or fifth unit from them now, not through faults or anything, they got sold with previous cars). The sound has always been good as has the functionality side too on their units.
Not a massive help sorry, but at least saved you a few quid on whichever you go for ;)

You may have a job finding them in store at Halfords mate, as with most of their stuff they have about 10% of the range in the store and the rest online only (like all three units you have listed are "online only")
Any local audio shops to you? May be able to match the price online or get within a close range to it

Car Audio direct are based in oxord(guy called mike organ) used to be one of my customers when I was at Toad. are you not thinking of car audio security?

Well ChrisRyan was right went into chester as they have a big halfords only to find it shut down and a small one opened round the corner no double dins on display :bad-words: going take a look in a local car audio place tomorrow.. ive been looking on caraudio direct and saw this DAB Pioneer http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pio-avh ... 00dab.html

Out of intrest why is everyone recommending the alpine are they much better than pioneer in peoples opinions ?

I have an i phone 5 and no headunits seem to be compatible am i right in thinking i can still make bluetooth calls with the i phone 5 and maybe put music onto an ipod nano and put it in the glovebox ?

What leads to i need to fit the headunit ?

where can i get a good fitting surround for the ep3 from ?

Sorry for the noob questions

Hi Tom,
I usually urgent Alpine products as they generally have superior audio to other brands. They also seems to better built and we certainly have had very litte warranty issues with them over the last decade.

Autoleads do a good double din fitting kit, and it includes the leads, fascia and aerial adapter.

If you aren't bothered about Dab, I have a good deal on the JVC KW-70bt that I can do for £309 inc fitting kit and delivery.

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... 16448.html

All of the units with iPod I have tested so far work with iPhone 5. Even if they have a standard connector, we just used a smalll lightening adapter and they are fine.

If you need any help at all just drop me a line

Cheers
Paul

Thanks alot for the help Paul im not too keen on the look of the jvc if im totally honnest so basicly im torn between the alpine and the pioneer DAB, purely because of the dab and talk of switching off analogue radio in a few years.

dont suppose you can match the prices of those headunits on caraudiodirect as youve helped me out and would rather do business with a forum trader

one more question this cable has been launched http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pio-cdi ... rface.html seems expensive for what it is plus you still need to buy a lightning to usb cable to run it. can i just buy one of these http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pio-ca- ... cable.html and use a lightning to usb adapter ?

I have the Alpine 530BT and it's a great unit. I chose it over the Pioneer as I think that Alpine deliver better sound quality and build quality. I have not been disappointed with my choice. The functionality with Bluetoothing with my phone is excellent, as is iPod connectivity, which makes searching for songs very straight forward. I also added an Alpine amp and sub and the unit works great with that as well. More room for upgrading further as well.

I had had two previous Alpine units and a Pioneer one and whilst I thought the Pioneer was ok, the Alpines just worked and did everything exactly the way they should.

JDMy0 wrote:What type of DAB aerial did you go for and did you fit it yourself? I'm thinking about getting a stick on / glass mount but not sure how to take off the pillar inbetween the door and windscreen and where the wire would go for a neat install?
I got the autoleads glass mount one from Halfords signals good only had it break up once in Liverpool city centre so not the best with high buildings. no I didn't fit it myself but watched the guy do it didn't look hard really.

Mines at the top of the passenger A piller if you get a trim removal tool and pop the A piller out at the top then pop it off but don't pull it out at the bottom where it meets the dash you can now drop the glove box down and fish the cable from the top of the A piller down to behind the glove box theres plenty of room as my hands free mic cable takes the same route and that's mounted above the rear view mirror. then when you take the headunit out you can easy see behind the glove box
