Right cut a long story short, on a bypass coming towards a traffic car (which is moving coming the opposite way) traffic vectra.. give it some vtec not noticing him in 3rd, not going over 65.. (this is on dual carrige way which i thought the speed limit was 60..) turns out he says its 40.. and its not a dual carridgeway  abit mythed with that one, as ive never seen a speed sign...
Anyway he reckons whilst approaching me, by him self bear in mind he got me with the lazer gun (yes hand held!) at 63.. and tried issuing me a fixed penalty, so i said can you show me the proof and he said no, ive got you on the gun and on camera, but im not obliged to show you? huh i thought.. anyway he said right instead ile summons you to court for speeding and i will show the evidence there.. hmm.. anyway i said what are you doing operating a speed camera whilst driving, when motorists get 3 points for even touching a mobile or anything handheld, he said i dont need to respond to that... im thinking eh up.. so i just said ok see in you court, he took me details and is summonsing me... he wouldnt show me any proof at the road side, not even the numbers on the speed gun ... and im thinking will CPS even consider this if he hasnt got any proof? and was he allowed to operate a speed gun whilst in motion, i.e (at 40 going down the bypass)?
Any resident police etc want to shine any light? i had my friend next to me to doing the same (both milano reds) exact same speed comparing the vtec time it came in and how long it lasted, hence nailing it in 3rd.. so just being daft really, no racing or exessive speeding,
only i got pulled though ;\
oh god my heads boggled?

May have caught you with on board camera (VASCAR system I think its called), same system thats used when you see the replays on Police Camera Action and it shows the speed in the bottom corner of the screen. It would be a very nervy 2 weeks for me waiting for a summons in the post, although Im sure you should have some kind of paperwork from when he pulled you.

Sounds like he's trying it on to me. I had a similar thing on the A55 ... ARV with 3 cops in. They were moving when I passed them, but declared they were stationary when they hit me with the laser. They were lying, but as there was 3 of them there was no point in me contesting it.
If the dude who "got" you was by himself, I'd say go for it and show the lying prat up for what he is. I'm sure you aren't supposed to operate a laser speed gun thingy whilst driving. If his car does have camera, you can ask for the footage for your defence, I believe. Should be interesting.
Good luck!

nope didnt give ne a thing, so these vascar sytems run to pick an averedge speed in 3 seconds, and that count as hard sollid evidence with CPS?

i got summons about 8 month ago, said he had me on camera but wouldnt show me the evidence, i am stil waiting. if you dont hear anything within 6 months you got away with it. it will get thrown out of court. did he issue you with and slips or out? as i got nothing he said i would get a letter of sumons in the post. think he was just tryin to frighten me lol it worked though

Was he alone??.. I always thought they had to ride in pairs when shooting people for speeding for evidentual reasons (2 against 1).. and also they should have shown you any evidence as there should be no reason not to...
I am no laeyer but I bet this one goes no where
On a side note... sounds likes your attutude was a bit crap when he pulled you.. in 18 years of driving I have never got a ticket or any points on my license (been stopped a few times).. as galling as it is here are my tips
- always get out of the car and go to the cop car if safe to do so
- always say please and thankyou (be polite)
- don't be cocky, belligerent or a smartarse
- admit that you may have been going too fast but never say how fast
You will have to have a hot shower to feel clean afterwards but it has always got me out of trouble.. most of the time these guys just want you to be aware that you were speeding and made a mistake and give you a talking to and a slap on the wrist (but of course you will always het a few wankers that just want you for breakfast)

I think this is the way it works...
If the road has streetlights and NO signs then it is 30. If it is another speed limit then there will be speed repeater signs on the lights.

If the road has no street lights then it is national speed limit. If it is another limit then there will be posts with the speed limit sign on.

Of course, both of the above don't apply on a motorway, that's 70 (60 or 50 for other classes) unless posted otherwise.
If it is a single carriageway on national speed limit and this expands to 2 lanes (up a hill for example, crawler lane or just a passing point) the limit does not increase to 70 as this is not classed as a dual carriageway.
I think this is correct, please correct if needed.

I was under the impression that admiting speeding means they have already won the battle, regardless of speed? Or would that not hold up? I mean in theory, speeding is speeding, whether it's 101mph in a 30mph or 31mph in a 30mph.
At the OP I wouldn't worry to much, I know it's easier said than done. I was stopped for speeding at 47mph in a 40mph. The woman said I'd be getting a fixed penalty etc but nothing ever turned up - this was using the lazer gun. She was alone, and she had no one to back her claim up.

don't admit it whislt sitting in the car on camera or in front of two of them... however... if they say you were going faster than the limit and you know you were don't try to deny it.. that is what I meant it just came out wrong

So ask a colleague or a bunch of strangers on the internet...
Going on those facts, I would happily go to court knowing my lawyer would pick so many holes in the prosecution it would be comical.

I didnt think they could get you going the opposite way. There used to be 1 sometimes 2 cop cars sat at the end of said carriage way on the entrance to the telephone exchange waiting for people on a thursday night when they all meet up in Ashton.Looks like you picked the wrong night to give it the beans. On a thursday that carriage way gets used like a drag strip/race track and there are always cops floating about in VASCAR equiped vectra's and beemers. And they take no prisoners.

What ever you do, dont mention you were comparing speed with another car
I think it can end up playing out as not having insurance (insurance doesnt cover timed events, racing, etc) and speeding blahblahblahblah
Read somewhere else about two guys comparing their speed all within legal limits and they both hand their own onboard cameras, took it to court and had a long battle to prove what they were doing was safe
On a side note, I was under the impression they HAD to show you how they caught you.

Just so you know the national speed limit on a dual carrigeway is 70, not 60.

im prity sure that "trafic" dont need to be in pairs to get you "done", as long as they have suficiant evidance of you on camera. :salut:
