Lol @ in a different league, we are talking about two 200 ish bhp hot hatches here. Both of them are quick - ish. Out of the box a 2001 197 bhp ep3 will not be as good as a 2007, 230 bhp R26 but the differences we are talking about here , both on the road and track are hardly in a different league. An ep3 with a diff, FRSU, bolt on engine mods, remap and coilovers will wave good bye to a R26. Even it's newer Brother the Megane RS isn't safe with 250 bhp:

If you are looking for more of the same performance wise then get an Ep3, if you want something better than the meg then buy something quicker and RWD.

We've established the difference in power/handling to be minimal.

You cant modify one and not the other,spend £400 on a remap and get 265 bhp from an R26.In the end i had 265bhp and 291lbft with stg1 map and forge intercooler and if we are being chavvy and telling stories it was quicker than the mk2 Focus RS press car i had on loan from Ford(300 bhp).

Thats where we differ mate,i compete in rallies so couldnt give a monkeys about a straight line race.The best thing about a hot hatch is handling which Renault Sport always nail on the head.

But you just told us all about your street race with a stripped out 251hp civic that you won with ease?

R26 will always be faster in a straight line and 'feel' faster being turbo charged. Drag racing too fast too furious batty stylee the R26 is going win.

They're in different leagues I agree. The civic was more of a competitor to the Clio 182, Fiesta st ect.
It's a bit like comparing an M3 to an M5. Both saloon cars but not in the same league.

Bang for buck it's the civic. If we all had more money, we'd buy something faster.




Plus R26 French and probably made out of Brie and bread. Oui.

To be fair everybody on here is a race driver so they could easily replicate the extra handling the Megane has over a Civic.

At the end of the day there's very little difference, nothing to rave about.. I know I'd rather have a bulletproof civic than a renault
