Interesting topic,had a good laugh at some of the replies
True about the ratios and would guess the Megane would be putting out at the wheels what the CTR had at fly but ratios arnt everything,however on a good twisty road the Megane would win,you wouldn't have to worry about keeping it on the boil(vtec)it would just be off,also if anyone thinks a standard CTR would out handle an R26 you must live in la la land and yes I have experienced both cars,also agree that a Civic compares with Clio not megane,certainly not R26

Always been a guest but this topic forced me to join not slating Civics but anyone who thinks a standard CTR is better handling or faster than an R26 down a piece of good road hasn't driven a Megane,is blinkered and should get their head out of the sand :shocked!: both cars have their good and bad points the Megane really does have a bad gear change throw on the gearstick(sorted by a quick shift)yet the CTR has possibly the best of any car........ever

I done some tests against my old r26 monday
And i have cpl frsu and the type r was all over the place twitching back end at speed were the r26 was flat and could accelerate alot harder through bends
I could only keep up after the bend due to the jrsc

Megane is a lot more planted and its not just because of the lsd,its just a better handling car full stop.
Dont get me wrong i love my ep3 but my old R26 was a lot better,gutting having to trade down(imo)but had to be done for other reasons especially with how much rallying costs aswell and still having my RS sat in the garage.

i would kill for a 265 trophy

i sold my r26 just for the shear fact of rapid depreciation
i was going to get a dc5 because there like money in assets wont depreciate within the year to anything significant enough to moan at.
then my jrsc civic surfaced at a great price so it was a no brainer
ill save up for my 335i and sell my jrsc civic for near on what i paid when the times right

and you cant be a petrol head and not own a type r

I think R26 will settle in a couple of year and hold value,a very good car for £8k

If we made a list of all cars more expensive that are better in one way or another then our ep3, we'll be here all day.

For me the engine in the r26 is boring, and that's a big factor in my book..

The sound of the engine in my 182 was a let down. Don't think a F4RT sounds any better...funny engine code name too.

Mine sounded good,prob not as good as a civic but still good.

Theres not many 4cyl turbo engines that do sound good though
