Burglars target high-speed cars in Lancashire
Police are linking the theft of five high-performance cars after burglars took the keys from homes in Lancashire. There were four break-ins in the Burnley area over the weekend and one in Rossendale. Lancashire police believe offenders are travelling from outside the county to carry out the thefts.
A Seat Leon, BMW, Mercedes and a Mini Cooper were stolen from homes in the Brunshaw and Worsthorne areas on Saturday night.
Police are also investigating a similar burglary on Burnley Road East in Rossendale early on Sunday when a Audi was taken.
Officers are urging people to remain vigilant about house security. Supt Steve Pemberton, of Lancashire Police, said: "We know that there are active criminals who live outside the county but are prepared to travel long distances to steal vehicles. "We currently have an operation in place and are working with other constabularies to identify those responsible."
