Dec 15th 2007 - Kpro tune at TDI North

went to tdi north to have my kpro mapped to my basically standard ctr.

it made 217.8bhp@7549rpm and 173.4lbft@5839rpm....

now the important stuff....

The car feels COMPLETELY different right across the rev range, the biggest differences are in mid-range delivery, motorway overtaking is alot easier, and general everyday driving is brilliant. 0-60 stylee stuff is loads better as well...Just gotta keep the V-power going in now..
The difference in the car is LOADS more than I even hoped it would be, it really IS that good. Ten times better than any of the generic Kmanager maps I tried.

April 2008 - Engine Bay Detail

after 18 months of ownership I finally got round to cleaning the engine bay..
..only I cheated and had some professional help.. :-D

I am officially the first paying "engine detail" customer of a lad just starting out in business in the area. No water or hosepipes involved, he does it all by hand. :salut:
Also took the opportunity to fit an earthing kit and refurb the battery tie as the plastic coating was peeling off, had it powdercoated in gloss black.

the cars a 52 plate on 84k btw.. :salut:

Before pics....

Fitted the Earthing Kit..

I removed the battery and airbox and other bits and bobs to make it easier....am well chuffed with the results. Should last another 18months..

Megs APC diluted in spray bottles, AG Machine degreaser and a weak solution of Megs shampoo plus, a wide variety of brushes and cloths and sponges etc...and some AG Vinyl rubber care... :salut:

thanks for the comments guys

...he charged me 35quid...it should be more but like I say he is just starting out, I did line him up with a couple of "full paint correction" customers and he also has mine and my mums car to do over the next month or 2 so he is very reasonable on prices etc...full paint correction/exterior detail on my mums ford Ka is 75quid, my sisters citroen c5 estate is 100quid, my mates ford focus st170 is 80quid, hasn't priced mine up yet....he has a look round the car, takes some paint depth readings on all the panels, and gives a price based on how long he thinks it will take i suppose...This is his weekend cash earner...he has been detailing cars on a local car club forum for a while now...he's very good and has all the kit. I suspect as he gets busier his prices will go up...

Hondata mod it an dget a drop in, much better than a typhoon imo, sounds pretty much stock from inside the car mate...from outside the exhaust has changed note slightly.

Tut tut tut Newan......... ...... getting fellow dw member Dan Clark to do your dirty work

Dan's done a good job there on the engine bay; but people shouldn't be frightened to tackle it themselves its very straightforward - A soft brush, plenty of APC, an adjustable hosepipe and some vinyl dressing+mf cloths and you're away!
