Ok so quickly, I placed a temp probe through the bulk head behind the glove box so I could see what sort of heat soak I was getting. I know, I know! V2 is going to suffer from this. So here is average temps of the v2 for dec-jan.....
Idle aprox 28deg
Short slow round town poodle 34-38 deg
Motor way 22-26deg
Now I put the standard back on yesterday and done the same runs....
Idle aprox 18deg
Short slow...... 14-18deg
Motorway 12-15deg

Now this is with a doluck drop in filter to.

I'm not saying this is the most scientific but I feel it's pretty good and hassen to say my v2 will be going on eBay this afternoon! Hope find this interesting.

Oh and the probe was mounted to the v2 filter with cable ties and placed inside the standard air box at the back away from the in take pipe.
Much love.

Hmmmmm nice post but if i may question this from your results id say they are too far apart to be even considered accurate!!!
Both kits sit in the engine bay --- Yes
From your results it shows that a standard Oem air box which loops the air within a plastic box then sends it into the engine runs cooler Than a aluminium open cone air filter....

I've had the V2 mate and yeah around town yeah i'd admit it does suffer in warm weather given december wasnt that warm i do oubt you say such high reading!!!

Was the probe fitted lets say 1st thing in the morning before the car was started and allowed to get up to working temps!!!

How did you mount the V2 most kits ive seen are in contact with the inlet manifold which does make a massive difference to how hot that alli tubing gets!!!!

Was the radiator hose insulated from aem v2 tubing???? If memory serves me correct there is a hose sitting on top of the alli tubing!!!

Once you have done the above id be willing to be less sceptical of your results but ive done the above steps and yeah the aem does get warm in town yup it does but no where as warm as it gets with the alli tubing touching the inlet and the radiator hose resting on it!!!!!

It's only as a rough idea mate......
I'm not a moron and I'm able to let an engine warm up and the probe was in place for over a month. Buy a thermometer and try it yourself if u don't belive me. And as for heat wrapping this pipe and that pipe??!

Engines do get pretty hot u know.
