Hi,
I've just bought an EP3 and it's got a broken ripspeed headunit. Not my taste and it's not working correctly, time for a change

I'm looking for a cd mp3 headunit with an aux connection on the front.
But it's important to me that the display and illuminated buttons are red to match the other interior lights of the EP3 and it needs to be dimmable so I can turn it down at night.
I can't stand bright lights in the car at night.

Was looking for a decent branded headunit. Sony alpine pioneer etc
I'm not too bothered about bluetooth though.

Any suggestions, Ive had a look on the net but a dimmable display is never listed on the functions section of any website

I have an Alpine ida-x305s that dims when you put the lights on, well it did in my old car but I'm not sure how to wire that function in the civic :p

I was looking for a manual function. I had a Sony unit about 5 years ago that had it. Three levels of dim but I can't remember the model number

I believe you can do that with the ID-X305s. I know that I could on the x001. Call alpine tech support or you local dealer. They should know.

Does it auto dim when you turn you headlights on?

No. This function has not been connected, and I couldn't be bothered to fit it. I don't know if the Honda supports it.

I will investigate - but not yet. I will when I change the head unit. I am waiting for alpine to release the integrated DAB headunits later this year. I hope they upgrade the DMEs. I want an X305s with dab-built in.

I did manage to Jailbreak my iPhone and install Pandora but my 305 wouldn't work it, gutted...

My Philips CEM3000B has a manual dimming function. You can also set the illumination shade with RGB levels. I haven't yet had it long enough to comment on the quality overall. One bug-bear is that the volume knob is on the passenger-side.

Mine is in the middle

Perhaps it's the way the seats hold you in place but it's a stretch to reach the volume dial. I use the remote instead.
