This morning after a heavy down pour (you might guess where this is going...) I had to pop to the local shops.

Down the bottom of a hill I saw a rather large pool of water (I think you've guessed it)

I proceeded with care and got through it, 2 seconds later, car stalled and there was so much steam that poured out my exhaust. It had finally happened, hydro lock. I've got a long ram AEM installed which has NEVER given me a problem.

Tried once to start the car and it made a strange noise and cut out. At this moment I just saw ££££

Called the AA who arrived an hour later, he removed the spark plugs and said turn her over. As I tried starting it, loads of water came wooshing out the cylinders almost like the washer jets do for the windscreen.

Put it all back together and said fingers crossed - try and start her.

Was turning and turning but nothing and it was extremely lumpy.

All of a sudden my beautiful beast kicked into life, lumpy but still running.
AA man with a grin on his face and I was so damn releved.

I knew for sure I should have turned round before the puddle but I've never had a problem with my AEM and I've been in some extremely sh*t whether and the puddle was only kerb high.

Car has now resumed normal beastly service after a 2 hour drive up and down the M3 and AA chap reckons should be no long term damage.

My foolishness thankfully didn't cost me this time but I've been extremely lucky.

Had my car 3 months, had a colleague at work put a dent in the rear arch, then 2 weeks ago someone in my gf's carpark has smashed the wing mirror off and put a dent in the door!
Bloody cars, hate 'em but love 'em ;)

I had a Top Gear flashback with the mechanic restarting the Toyota pick up truck and the water being blown out from the cylinders after it was submerged in the Severn estuary

Glad everything it's fixed now Chris!

I had a similar problem with a 306 DTurbo, but mine resulted in a new engine being fitted due to the original one throwing a rod at 30K.

I was driving through a large puddle and ended up sucking some of the puddle into the air intake, the car stalled and i got towed home. I removed the injectors and turned the engine over to remove the excess water, a new air filter later and I was back on the road.

About a month later I was on my way to see Moby in concert at Wembley with a couple of mates, as we travelled down the motorway at a steady 65/70 mph the con rod exited the block at the rear!!

When the car hydraulic ed it must of caused the con rod to bend slightly, which over time got worse, then finally snapped.

lol I remember that!

Hope I don't go losing rods now! Just glad I was driving slow through it.
One car went throught it about 40 ish and totally drenched some house! :D

Might be worth getting a compression check done, just be on the safe side.if a rod has bent slightly it should show on a compression check.

Thanks for the advice! Would that be much to replace?

If you have to replace a rod it would be an engine out and strip job  ,and if one is bent it might do damage to other parts.

A compression check won`t cost much,a local garage or Honda could do that easy, phone Honda and ask.like i said its best to be safe than sorry and it`ll be peace of mind for you.

Cheers mate, was beyond words when it started up again. Wanted to give the very very nice man a kiss - but I thought I should contain myself!

Have considered ITG's it's just the £££

I'm glad the AA turned up!!! I canceled my membership after several bad experiences.

The guys that come out are normaly quite good, but thats once they arrive.

I had a water pump problem last year and was stuck at Lakeside (big shopping centre) from 2pm till 10pm!!!! Two weeks later I had a loose earth on the alternator so the car kept cutting out. At the time I was in Newcastle making the 300 mile trip back. The call centre woman asked where I was going so I told her "Essex" there was a silence followed by "Where is Essex?" Eventually the AA van passed going in the wrong direction as he had been told I was heading north - doh.

That sounds mildly frustrating to say the least! They did text me at 12 to say they'd arrive at 1215, still nothing by 1245 though. Call centre people at the AA don't inspire confidence or reassurance. Never sound like they can be arsed. They have the "another sh*tter broken down" tone in their voice :?
